Discover birds of prey
Birds of prey, also known as raptors, are hunters adapted for spotting and catching prey. Many have strong feet with sharp talons, curved bills, excellent eyesight, and wings shaped for soaring, gliding, or fast pursuit.

Learn to recognize raptors
Birds of prey can be challenging to identify, especially when they are high in the sky or seen only for a few seconds. Shape is often just as important as color.
A Common Buzzard has broad rounded wings and a relatively short tail, while a Eurasian Sparrowhawk has shorter wings and a much longer tail built for quick turns between trees. Learning these silhouettes and markings can make identification much easier outdoors.
